How Holger Got Into Dancing
Holger began his successful dance career very late in life. Between the ages of 4 and 17, he spent his time on the soccer field rather than on the dance floor. He was predicted to have a great career in soccer, nominated for the South German team at a very early age, and his life and thoughts were focused entirely on that sport.
At 15, he began attending dance school. His coaches at the time, Eugen, Fritz, and Ute Streicher, strongly encouraged him to try competitive dance, since he had won every possible prom-style dance competition at the school. After a skiing accident at 17, Holger had to take a break from soccer for a while and made a seamless transition into the world of competitive dance.
His career was one of a kind. Within just twelve months he rose through all the ranks, became German Youth Champion and German A class Champion in the same year, and, after only one year of dancing, reached fourth place in the Under-21 division at Blackpool. That same year he became a runner-up in the semi-finals at Blackpool in the amateur division. This meteoric rise made the decision to stick with dancing an easy one. Holger is indeed a thoroughbred dancer, but he couldn't resist gaining additional experience in other fields alongside it.
His Work Nowadays
Two essential elements run like a red thread through his life and inevitably led him to the term "BodyCoaching": the movement of the body as such, and the perception of the body during that movement. This awareness and its effect on the outside shaped his current work as a BodyCoach.
Through his university degree in sports studies, thirteen years of intensive experience in football, the special fine coordination of competitive dancesport that he has been part of for over forty years, and many other sport and movement experiences, his focus has always been on awareness, biomechanics, and the efficiency of the body, its coordination and functional intelligence. The full spectrum of insights gained from these experiences flows into his work today.
For Holger, the body has always been at the center, both in sports and in everyday life. Our body often sends clear signals long before our mind becomes aware of them. That is why it is so important to him to take the body seriously and to learn to listen to it again more consciously, because the body always knows exactly what the right balance is for us. This deep understanding forms the foundation of his work as a BodyCoach.
In his different fields of work, as a mentor in competitive dancesport, dance sport teacher and adjudicator, choreographer, speaker, movement expert, and seminar and workshop leader, one principle applies to both the inner and the outer attitude: first feel your body, then go into action.
Mind Over Body
Above the physical dance experience there is always the knowledge and learning of the mind and spirit, which explains the term MIND OVER BODY as such.
At the heart of Holger's work as a mentor in dance sport and a holistic BodyCoach lies the deep conviction that true movement goes far beyond technique. Both in dance and in everyday movement patterns, profound theoretical knowledge forms the foundation for enhanced body awareness and a deeper understanding of human movement.
Throughout his life he has dedicated himself not only to exploring this knowledge, but to translating it into clear concepts, theories, and methodologies. Over the years this has resulted in numerous specialist books, teaching systems, and methodological approaches related to movement and music, which today are widely practiced and highly valued within the international dance sport community by coaches, dance school teachers, professional dancers, and educators alike.
For Holger, dance is far more than movement alone. It is the conscious connection between body, mind, and expression to the music. From this philosophy he develops methodologies that help dancers perceive their bodies in connection with music with greater sensitivity, understand movement more efficiently, and unlock their full potential.
An essential part of his work today is the education and mentorship of dance sport coaches, dance school teachers, and professional dancers on an international level. With great passion and the highest level of dedication he devotes himself to the ongoing evolution of dance sport and shares his knowledge worldwide through seminars, educational programs, and coaching.
Body Over Mind, the Tonemeup Pro Method
Reconnect with your body and discover a new sense of body awareness with the TONEMEUP PRO method and band. Holger developed this method and the patented Pro band over more than twenty years, with the goal of helping people feel more comfortable, stable, and secure in their bodies again.
The method uses an elastic band applied around and on the body in a targeted way. By working with the band and bringing conscious attention to the body, posture, body awareness, and inner stability can be strengthened. Step by step this can help build greater confidence, self-awareness, and a better overall sense of well-being. With regular practice, many people experience greater stability, presence, and calmness in everyday life, and it can also change the way they deal with experiences and challenges.
Body Coaching
Experience how closely body posture, presence, and mindset are connected. The way we carry ourselves often influences not only how others perceive us, but also how we feel about ourselves.
Together with his longtime friend and SelfmentCoach Thierry Ball, Holger developed the concept and workshop "Walk Through Life Upright." In this workshop people learn how a more conscious and positive posture can immediately change the way they present themselves and interact with others, while strengthening body awareness and self-confidence. The focus is on the connection between inner attitude and physical posture: both influence each other and can help a person feel more present, balanced, and comfortable in everyday life.
